Is Fortify Elite worth it over Fortify?

Last updated October 28, 2026

Short answer

On a roof scored Good, Fortify Elite is 20 years non-prorated plus 5 years of hail coverage, against 15 years of full-then-reducing cover on Fortify. The difference is five years, the shape of the cover, and the only hail line in the table.

The three real differences

First, the term: 20 years against 15 on a roof scored Good (90-100), and 15 against 12 on Fair (75-89).

Second, the shape of the cover: Elite is non-prorated, so the cover is worth the same in its last year as its first, while Fortify is full value for the first five years and then reduces.

Third, the hail line: 5 years of hail coverage exists on Elite in the Good band and nowhere else in the table.

What that looks like over twenty years

A roof that takes Fortify is due for a re-treatment well before twenty years have passed, and the warranty includes a 20 percent price lock on that future work. Elite simply sits at the top of the range with a term nothing else matches.

Whether that is "worth it" depends on how long you expect to own the house, and on whether the extra cover is the thing you are buying rather than the treatment itself.

When Fortify is the sensible choice

If the roof is in good shape and the priority is a UV shield that slows the sun’s work without a second coat, Fortify on a Good roof is 15 years of cover in one application.

If you are preparing to sell within a few years, a shorter non-prorated term on Fair may cover the period you care about at a lower build.

How to decide without guesswork

Ask for both rows in writing on your own roof, with the term, the coverage type and the value per square foot named. The assessment is free and the estimate carries both options if both are available in your band.

That is a cleaner comparison than any page can give you, because it uses your measured score rather than the average roof.

One question that decides it

Ask what you are actually buying: years of cover, or the shape of it. If the answer is the shape, Elite is the only Fortify build that does not step down. If the answer is years on a roof that is sound, Fortify does that job in one coat.

Both options in one estimate

Where both are available in your band, ask for both rows in the estimate rather than a recommendation alone. Reading the term, the coverage type and the value side by side is what turns the question from an opinion into a comparison.

Estimate where your roof sits

Two answers give an estimated zone and the coverage that comes with it. The measured Roof Health Score at the assessment decides the rest.
