One visit, about two hours
There is no second day and no crew on the roof for a week. The treatment is a surface application, so the work is measured in hours rather than days, and the roof is not opened up at any point.
That is worth stating plainly because it is unusual. A replacement is a multi-day, noisy tear-off with a dumpster in the driveway. This is one appointment with nothing removed from the property, which is also why there is nothing for you to dispose of afterwards.
What fills the two hours
Most of the time is preparation and care rather than application. A roof that is dirty will not take a treatment properly, because the treatment has to reach the shingle rather than the dirt on it, so cleaning comes first.
The order of work does not change from roof to roof.
- The surface is cleaned so the treatment can reach the shingle
- Landscaping below the work area is covered and protected
- The treatment is applied to the shingles already on the roof
- The site is cleaned up, and the warranty is registered where it applies
The cure time is the part that follows
The surface needs 24 to 48 hours of dry weather to cure after the visit. That window is the reason we watch the forecast before booking rather than after: it is better to move a visit by a day than to apply a treatment and have rain arrive inside the cure.
During the cure, keep off the roof and keep people and pets off it too. After that it is back to normal use. If rain arrives inside the window, we return at no charge.
What can change the timing on your roof
Some roofs take longer than two hours, and the estimate tells you before the day rather than on it. The common reasons are all about access and condition rather than about the treatment itself.
Steep or cut-up roofs with multiple planes, valleys and dormers take longer than a simple gable. So does a roof that needs cleaning before anything else, or one where minor repairs have been listed in the estimate and are being carried out in the same visit.
What you need to do before the visit
Nothing. The roof is checked and cleaned by us, and there is no preparation on your side. The one thing worth passing on is anything you have noticed: a damp patch on a ceiling, granules collecting in a gutter, or a shingle in the yard.
If there is a gate code or a dog in the yard, tell us when the visit is booked, so the day starts without a delay.
What the estimate confirms
Your written estimate states the scope of the visit and the timing for your roof, along with any minor repairs. Nothing is scheduled until you accept it, and nothing on the day is a surprise.
If being on site matters to you, book the visit for a time that suits you. We do not need you home for the work to go ahead, but plenty of homeowners prefer to be there, and that is easy to arrange.
