What it is doing, mechanically
An asphalt shingle is flexible when it is new because the asphalt still carries its oils. Sun and heat draw those oils out, and the shingle becomes dry, dull and brittle. Water that used to sheet off starts to sit.
The treatment puts material back into that surface and coats it so water beads and leaves, which restores the two jobs the shingle was doing: staying supple, and shedding water.
Why the score is the test of "works"
A treatment cannot put back granules that are gone, and it cannot rebuild a mat that has cracked through. What it can do depends on how much surface is left, which is exactly what the Roof Health Score measures.
That is why the same product is not sold to every roof: the range runs from a UV shield on a sound roof to a short bridge on a worn one, and the score picks the row.
What counts as evidence
A written warranty with a stated period, a stated coverage type and a stated value per square foot, issued by the manufacturer and registered after the work. That is a commitment someone is prepared to stand behind years later.
The published terms run from the short prorated bridge up to 20 years non-prorated plus 5 years of hail on Fortify Elite in the Good band. Fortify alone carries 15 years on a Good roof, and Revive 10 years on Aging.
What it will not do
It will not make a roof new, stop a leak, repair a flashing, add hail cover outside the one row that carries it, or make a metal roof eligible.
A page that promises otherwise is selling something other than this treatment.
Seeing it on your own roof
The assessment measures the condition and tells you which row your roof would take, in writing, before anything is booked. That is the only honest way to know whether it will work on your roof rather than on roofs in general.
The visit is free and carries no obligation.
How to see it before you buy
Ask what the score would have to be for the treatment not to apply. An operator who can answer that is describing a real product with real limits, and it is the fastest way to tell one from a pitch.
