Is it good for North Carolina weather?

Short answer

North Carolina is a good example of why a state is a poor guide: the coast brings humid air and driving rain, while the inland and mountain areas go through hard freeze-thaw cycles. The roof itself is scored, and the score picks the treatment.

Two climates in one state

Near the coast, the load is humidity and storm rain: surfaces dry slowly, water reaches edges and valleys sideways, and growth settles on the shaded slopes.

Inland and in the mountains, freeze-thaw is the sharper force. Water works into the shingle and the gaps between shingles, freezes, expands, and pushes the material apart from the inside, and repeating cycles do more than any single cold night.

Both are water problems

The two patterns look different but they come back to the same thing: a shingle that holds water is a shingle that fails sooner. A damp surface is slower to dry, and a wet shingle that freezes is stressed from within.

That is why the treatment approach is the same in both: get the surface shedding water again, and give the material back some of the flexibility it was made with.

Why the score decides, not the map

A climate selection on this site changes the guidance shown, never the eligibility. A roof is scored on its condition, and the band decides whether it takes Fortify, Fortify Elite, Revive or Boost.

The state-to-climate mapping is labelled approximate for exactly this reason, and it can be overridden if another profile describes the property better.

North Carolina service

North Carolina is one of the three states we serve. No city in the state is confirmed on this site yet: send the address with your request and we will confirm coverage before anything is booked.

A ZIP code on its own does not confirm service, which is why the address is the thing we check.

Timing the work

The application needs 24 to 48 hours of dry weather to cure, and we plan the visit around the forecast. In a freeze-thaw climate, treating a dried-out roof before winter is doing the work in the right order.

If rain arrives inside the curing window, we return at no charge.

What that means for a roof here

A roof in this state can spend one season drying out in humid air and the next being pushed apart by frost, so the surface has to do both jobs: shed water quickly and keep enough flexibility to move with the temperature.

That is what the treatment is for, and it is why the first question at the visit is what the surface looks like rather than what the weather is like.
